Housing Allocations Officer 
(RP0101)

Permanent contract

Starting salary £26,237 pro rata with potential progression to £28,076 pro rata on achieving designated skills and experience

22 hours per week 

The post-holder, alongside a small team, will be responsible for providing housing advice and assessment to the public over the telephone and face to face, managing the Council’s Housing Needs Register, shortlisting for vacant council properties, making nominations to Local Registered Providers and undertaking a range of associated administrative duties.

You will need to have attained GCSE grade C in Math’s and English, or equivalent, have experience of working with the public in a face to face and busy environment and be IT literate.  Preferably you would also have experience of allocating or letting properties or providing housing advice but this is not essential. 

The role will be interesting and challenging and involve dealing with people who are faced with housing difficulties.   Therefore the post holder must be able to remain calm and able to empathise with people.  You will also need to have the ability to follow policies and procedures, have good organisational skills and be flexible.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.

Assessments will be held on 24th May 2024 and interviews will be held on 30th May 2024.
