Overview

We are looking for a Trainee Farm Trader to join the Frontier Agriculture commercial team, based in Ruddington, Nottinghamshire.

The purpose of the role will be to promote, manage and develop Frontier’s services within an assigned sales area and to achieve agreed targets for both product volumes and profit margins.

This role will require time spent both out on farm with our customers and time in the Ruddington office to support trading activity.

About You

  • We are looking for candidates who are already working in a sales / procurement environment and are looking to build a career in a different sector
  • Strong commercial acumen and awareness
  • Ability to build outstanding professional relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • A high level of initiative with strong planning and organisational skills
  • The personal ambition, tenacity, and resilience to succeed in a sales/procurement role
  • FACTS qualification (would be an advantage but not essential)

Your Role Will Involve

As a Farm Trader your role will involve:

  • Purchasing Grain, Oilseeds and Pulses from our farmer customers both established and new
  • Selling Grain, Oilseeds and Pulses to consumers
  • Agreeing terms for grain storage and handling services with our customers
  • Helping to develop new contracts for Wells Agriculture customers
  • Manage and promote grain sampling services
  • Having knowledge of grain markets and provide advice on the most appropriate grain marketing strategies
  • Account Management services for both current and new customers
  • Advising and selling seed, fertilisers and other inputs and services to farmer customers and developing new sales opportunities
  • Providing cover for the Commercial Manager when they are out of office
  • Building a comprehensive knowledge of Wells Agriculture’s products and services
  • Supporting marketing campaigns & events throughout the year
  • Promoting, managing, and developing Frontier’s business, products and services
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues from different product lines across the wider Frontier Agriculture business
  • Liaising closely with colleagues to identify opportunities with new customers and develop relationships with existing customers, supporting a joint working approach
  • Actively engaging in prospecting customers for Frontier
