Overall Purpose of the Role

Key support to both the Royalties Manager & Head of Royalties handling the general day to day workload management of the department, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of the accounting both within the Royalties system and in the financial ledgers of the company. Manage all aspects of the Royalty Administration role. Ability to deputise for the Royalties Manager in their absence.

 

Main Objectives of the Role

  • Responsible for the workload management within the Royalties team, assisting the Royalties Manager to coach, and train the team members to ensure that the contractual payments are accurately prepared to the agreed timetable.
  • Approval of royalty accounting up to agreed authorisation level, ensuring the royalty files hold sufficient detail for audit purposes and that the relevant financial accounting entries are accurate.
  • Assist with the development of the DPS system from a Royalties stance, working closely with the Finance, Rights, and IT teams across the business.
  • Delegate to the Royalty Assistants where necessary.
  • Manage key projects and set realistic timeframes to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to deputise for the Royalties Manager in their absence.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.
  • Preparation of the royalty accounting for complex contractual obligations for key talent / commercially sensitive business partners.
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements to the Head of Royalties for discussion and be involved within project teams to implementation. 
  • Monitor timekeeping and sickness.
  • Lead the Royalty Assistants to operate standard practises across the team and streamline the workflow. Monitor going forward.
  • Formulate, review and update performance plans and communicate them regularly to the team, monitoring progress to ensure that individual and team targets are met.
  • Support and develop the role of the Royalties Assistants.
  • Work with the Assistants to improve communication to the wider team, refer to Workplace for current business activities with regular updates highlighted to the Royalties team.
  • Under the supervision of the Royalties Manager, define the training plans for the new recruits, train the existing members of the team and engage in regular refresher courses.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proactive, positive and can-do attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are a key requisite.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Experienced in Royalties and driving processes.
  • Ability to use own Initiative and develop ideas.
  • MS Office skills essential (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work effectively under time pressure.
  • Strong financial accounting skills.
  • Focused and motivated to manage processes and lead a team within a busy working environment.
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively with key contacts, at all levels, written and verbally, both within and outside the Company.

 

Desired

  • Previous supervisor / team leader experience
  • Previous experience of SA
