About the role
The Procurement Manager works in the Council’s Procurement and Commercial Team, having responsibility for a range of procurements valued over £100,000. The post holder will be responsible for delivering compliant procurements which achieve value for money and high quality outcomes.
The Procurement Team work on a hybrid basis, from home or at our purpose-built, state of the art offices in Alconbury Weald. We get together at least a couple of times a month for collaborative working and when required (if you’d prefer to work in the office more regularly, you’re able to do so). Additional face-to-face time in the office will be provided to support with your induction, training and development. There may also be the occasional requirement to travel around the County and beyond to meet the requirements of our clients.
Although mainly working remotely, the team are in frequent contact with each other and always available to talk to; we have a very friendly, encouraging working environment and new starters have always commented on how welcome and settled they have been made to feel.

About you
This is a busy role dealing with multiple stakeholders, so you should be able to effectively manage your time and workload to prioritise and deliver to deadlines as agreed with your line manager.
The ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders at various levels is key, as you’ll need to build collaborative working relationships, to understand and support the needs of the services this element of the team supports. This role will be supporting colleagues predominantly within the Corporate and IT categories covering areas such as IT hardware / software, HR, Finance, Insurance, amongst others.
You’ll be confident with MS Office and able to learn new IT systems (we provide support and guidance documents), specifically our e-tendering system ProContract.
