Job Title: Process Safety Engineer

£42,000 – £50,000​ per annum depending on skills and experience + Car Allowance or Company Car

​​Full time/37 hrs a week/permanent​

Location: ​Peterborough & Surrounding Areas

​​Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you the flexibility to work from home and from an Anglian Water office. Your base location will be Thorpe Wood House in Peterborough. Travel across the Anglian Water sites will also be required.​

This role is pivotal for our business, focusing on effectively managing process safety risks and promoting awareness and understanding of process safety within the organization. As a mobile role, you’ll have the chance to travel regularly throughout our region, from Lincolnshire to Essex and Norfolk to Northamptonshire.

As a Process Safety Engineer, you will offer technical expertise and support in various areas such as hazard identification, process safety change management, and quantified risk assessment. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with the Group Process Safety Lead to align the Process Safety strategy with Anglian Water’s business objectives and provide updates on process safety performance to the Management board. What you’ll be doing:

​​- Hazard identification (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, Bowtie) workshops

– Process Safety Change Management (PSCM)

– Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) risk assessments and Hazardous Area Classification

– Consequence modelling (gas dispersion, heat radiation, jet fire / explosion modelling) using industry standard software and techniques

– Support AWS Chief Engineer, Head of Safety, and Management Board Directors leading key Business streams in all aspects of Process Safety

– Ensure the Process Safety strategy is aligned to AW’s business objectives supporting successful delivery of our business plan goals

– Ensure legal duties under COMAH are complied with and liaise with enforcing authorities working collaboratively with relevant Business Units

– Provide regular business updates to the Head of Safety and Management Board on Process Safety performance and key areas of focus driving improvements through collaboration and engagement​ ​

What does it take to be successful?

​​- We are open to different levels of experience and will consider newly qualified Graduates and/or previous experience in an engineering role.

– A Bachelor’s degree in either Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

– Previous experience in an engineering role supporting operations and/or projects, such as plant or process engineering, project design, execution, engineering and/or technical service roles.

– A full UK driving license and comfortable with travelling throughout the region to our sites.

– Strong communication skills and capable of influencing and engaging others.

– Excellent IT skills.
