Salary: £12 per hour

We’re proud to announce we’re running our Summer Internship Programme again this year. This is a great opportunity to gain some hands on, paid work experience. This role is based in our IT Service Desk Team, dealing with our colleagues over the phone or supporting their technical queries face to face via the Tech Hub. (The programme is only available to students in years 12 or 13 at college or 6th form only)

If you complete the programme in our office in Binley, Coventry, you’ll be involved in:

  • Providing first-line incident management, request fulfilment and problem management for all the Society’s IT systems 
  • Understanding compliance with the Society’s IT and Security Policies 
  • Understanding and help minimize the impact of IT incidents on the business.

The Internship Programme will start on the 22nd July to the 30th of August and during this time you’ll work full time Monday to Friday. This is a great opportunity to understand how we work and many of our interns have gone on to secure part time Saturday roles to fit around their study at the end of the programme.

How will you develop?

We want you to get the most out of your internship and will provide you with enough training so you have the knowledge and skills to succeed in your role. Your first week will involve you learning all about Coventry Building Society, our processes and how we work. You’ll then put your knowledge in to practice with the support of a buddy who will be on hand to answer any questions along the way. Your manager will also provide you with regular feedback and support to make sure you’re getting the most out of your programme.

We’re looking for individuals who share our values and our passion for putting people first. If you like building relationships with new people and have good attention to detail, this could be the programme for you.

Ideally you’ll have a passion for IT and maybe studying a subject in that area but you’ll definitely need to have a positive, friendly attitude and excellent communication skills. We’re looking for people who have the confidence to engage with a diverse variety of people, who are customer focused and have the ability to be accurate and deal with queries.

We want you to get the most out of the opportunity and as it’s only on for 6 weeks it’s important you don’t have any more than a couple of days holiday during this time, with none of this during the first couple of weeks as these are the key training days. The programme is only available to students studying for the first time in years 12 or 13 at college or 6th form.
