Quality Inspector – London
Job Description
The Quality Inspector is responsible for managing the independent site inspections. Providing assurance to both the SCSJV Management and the Client that the Delivery Team and the supply chain are delivering the Works in accordance with the Works Information and the design requirements. The first line of defence will be by the delivery of on-site training and coaching of the Delivery Team. The second line will be by carrying out inspections of the Works. The role will involve working in a specific area of the project and providing support to other Quality Inspectors across both sections of the project.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Be proactive in preventing substandard Works being produced by coaching and providing training to the Delivery and Quality teams and any other supporting functions.
- To be the arbiter between all parties on any quality related issues, preventing them been raised directly to the Project Director.
- Check the works during progress and on completion, on behalf of the Lead Designer, to ensure that it has been constructed in line with the Work Information and relevant Detail Design.
- Communicate with delivery team and sub-contractors to ensure full understanding of quality assurance requirements.
- Ensure that quality management is given the highest priority in delivery in the delivery of their works to achieve right first time.
- Communicate to the Quality Managers, Quality Engineers and Senior Quality Inspectors any non-conformances or any other issues identified on site.
- Ensure that inspections and tests are carried out in line with the inspection and test plans, Safe System of Work for the controlling the works and that all necessary documentation is produced in a timely manner.
- Assist the Quality engineers in carrying out site surveillances.
In addition to the above discipline role, the Quality Inspectors must carry out his/her duties in accordance with the SCSJV Core Values. Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners’ Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company’s operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project
Qualifications
Essential
- Experience within quality related role on a major infrastructure project.
- Experience of working on Civil engineering projects, preferably tunnels.
- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel).
- Extensive experience onsite inspections against an approved Detail Design and onsite NCR management.
- Relevant CSCS Card
- On-site training in Quality.
Desirable
- Experience working in tunnels is desired
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems is desired.
