Richmond and Wandsworth Better Service Partnership are looking to recruit a Payroll Team Leader on a full-time basis to join our busy Payroll department and play a central role in ensuring the smooth running of the department. You will report to the Payroll Manager. You will also liaise with departmental managers and employees, resolving their queries, as well as advising on legislative and technical payroll matters.
About the role
The successful candidate will have a set of on-going responsibilities which will vary depending on the needs of the team. The responsibilities include (but not limited to) to:
- Quality control of payroll input and payroll processing. Some inputting.
- Direct responsibility for the accurate processing of seven or more payrolls, meeting specified deadlines required.
- Training, mentoring and leadership of 4 Payroll Coordinators.
- Setting objectives and conducting appraisals for 4 Payroll Coordinators.
- Resolving queries and advising on legislative and technical payroll matters.
- Ability to carry out the Payroll Team Leader role with minimum supervision.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
To be shortlisted to interview for this position your CV/work history and personal statement (no longer than two sides of A4) will clearly evidence criteria outlined in the job profile including:
- Experience in processing and managing high volume payrolls, preferably on iTrent payroll software.
- Experience of working on multiple payrolls with multiple pay days.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- A good track record in management of staff.
- Knowledge of current legislation.
- Ability to perform manual calculations for PAYE, National Insurance contributions, Student Loans and Statutory payments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Previous payroll experience in a Local Authority environment will be a strong advantage.
A Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (or equivalent) payroll qualification is desirable.
