Maintenance and Facilities Assistant – Halifax

We have an exciting opportunity to join us here at Covéa Insurance as a Maintenance & Facilities Assistant, within our Facilities department!

This role is based on site at our Halifax office. We believe that working together in person fosters stronger collaboration, deeper engagement, and supports your professional growth!

What does a day-to-day look like?

  • Supporting the Facilities team with the day-to-day maintenance of the building including, general repairs to the offices, such as desk moves, simple repairs to toilets, sinks, light bulbs etc.
  • Carrying out regular maintenance checks recording outcomes and reporting back for further clarification.
  • Monitoring the office temperatures and associated supplies, applying simple changes and monitoring to ensure colleagues are comfortable at work.
  • Liaising with contractors on site ensuring access to site is easy and managed.
  • Ensuring any works have a minimal impact on colleagues.
  • Ensuring that H&S guidelines are adhered to in your working area and with those you are working with.
  • Assisting in the planning of desk moves and set up, manual dismantle and rebuilds of desks and other furniture.
  • As required Assisting in post room activities such as opening mail, preparing outgoing mail, accurately recording the numbers, taking deliveries, ensuring secure wastepaper is controlled and ready for collection.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Reliable, with drive to achieve and develop own skillset
  • Proven ability in physical tasks and an interest in DIY and manual repairs
  • Good time management skills
  • Proven previous caretaker experience preferred
  • Great communicator
  • Ability to work unsupervised, with a can-do attitude
  • Passionate, collaborative and focussed
  • Reactive and quick to respond to issues
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
