Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Solicitor (Legal Counsel) to join our in-house legal team on a permanent basis. This is a high-profile role, offering exposure to a broad range of legal matters across a dynamic, fast-paced 🚀, and international technology business.
📝 Position Summary
As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, pragmatic, and timely legal advice across the business. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, supporting commercial activities, and enabling the business to achieve its objectives 🎯 while managing legal risk effectively.
The role spans commercial contracts 📑, compliance ✅, data protection 🔒, employment 👥, litigation management ⚖️, and some acquisition & corporate activities 🤝.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Transactional

✍️ Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS contracts, IT and consultancy agreements, reseller/partner agreements, marketing contracts, MSAs, and NDAs.

💡 Provide legal support for business development, sales, promotions, and advertising campaigns.

🗂️ Assist with the design, drafting, implementation, and communication of customer terms and conditions.
Compliance, Risk & Governance

🔒 Ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation and regulations, including data privacy (UK GDPR) and financial legislation as relating to SaaS.

📢 Monitor new legal and regulatory developments, advising the business on their impact.

🛡️ Assist in the management, protection, and enforcement of the IP portfolio.

🏛️ Support corporate governance and compliance matters across the group.

🚀 Lead or participate in projects to enhance the delivery of legal services, including playbooks, training, knowledge management, and internal processes.
Corporate Matters

🏢 Assist with corporate, property, and other general legal matters affecting the business.

🔄 Support post-acquisition activities, including integration and contract harmonisation.
Dispute & External Counsel Management

⚖️ Manage pre-litigation disputes and settlements, engaging with external counsel where required.

🤝 Act as a key liaison with external law firms and other professional advisers.
Internal Collaboration

👥 Work closely with commercial, HR, product, compliance, and executive teams to provide consistent, practical legal support across the business.

🎓 Deliver training and guidance across the business on legal risk, compliance standards, and data protection obligations.
🎓 Qualifications

⚖️ UK-qualified Solicitor with a valid practising certificate.

📅 Post-qualified experience (ideally 3–5 years but flexible depending on relevant experience), with in-house experience preferred.

📚 Up-to-date professional knowledge and strong expertise across relevant areas of practice.

🔐 Knowledge of ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar compliance standards.

⚖️ Previous experience managing disputes and working with external counsel.

📈 Experience advising professional services or accounting-sector clients.

👥 Provision of advice on UK employment law issues, including recruitment, employment contracts, policies, employee relations, and terminations.
