Overview

The Young Peoples Support team offers a preventative service for young people who face worrying risks to their safety and well-being. The aim is to work with young people and their families, supporting them to build positive family and peer relationships so they can thrive in their adolescent years and in their transition to adulthood.

Working alongside the Youth Justice Service you will deliver targeted intervention and support packages to young people. This is usually at the pivotal point where they are facing a permanent or fixed term exclusion from school or managed move due to reasons associated with youth violence, exploitation, or other vulnerabilities.

This is for a limited term contract for one year.

What will you be doing?

  • You are responsible for providing direct intervention packages on a one-to-one basis with children, young people and families, some of whom will have a range of problems and challenges.
  • You will represent and support the needs of the young person you are working with, providing regular reports to share with schools and any education panels.
  • Where required, you will provide mediation, advice and guidance between the young person and the school.
  • It will be your responsibility to ensure that records and reports are maintained in accordance with service guidelines.
  • You will undertake assessments to determine the best intervention needed.
