Overview

Within Salutem, our Children’s Services division provides high-quality, specialist care for children and young people across a range of settings, including residential care, solo placements, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) services, learning disability support, and supported accommodation

Our approach is rooted in being trauma-informed. We recognise that many of the children and young people we support have experienced trauma—whether through single events or ongoing experiences such as abuse or neglect—which can have a lasting impact on their emotional, social, physical, and psychological wellbeing. Every individual experiences trauma differently, and we are committed to understanding and responding to those unique needs.

Our teams are trained to understand the principles of trauma through the “3 E’s” framework: Event, Experience, and Effect. This means recognising not just what has happened to a young person, but how they have experienced it and the impact it has had on them.

By embedding a trauma-informed approach into everything we do, our staff are able to adapt their support, build trusting relationships, and create safe, nurturing environments where children and young people can begin to recover, develop resilience, and thrive.

At Salutem, we are passionate about making a lasting difference—supporting every child and young person to feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
