Foodbuy Group is the UK’s leading food procurement organisation, managing over £2bn of spend across foodservice, hospitality, retail and non‑food. As the UK’s largest Group Purchasing Organisation and part of Compass Group UK & Ireland (FTSE 100), we work in close partnership with our clients to deliver expert procurement, commercial and supply chain solutions — helping them save money, manage risk, drive innovation and focus on what matters most to their businesses.

Our people sit at the heart of what we do. We’re committed to developing exceptional talent and offering careers with real scale, autonomy and impact.

The role

This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal, senior commercial leadership role at the heart of Foodbuy’s Commercial Management function.

As a Commercial Director, you’ll sit alongside senior sector leaders and play a critical role in shaping and delivering joint commercial strategies across one or more Compass sectors. Operating with high autonomy and executive‑level influence, you’ll be responsible for driving performance against strategic priorities, navigating complex supply chain challenges and supporting sector growth agendas.

You’ll act as a senior commercial partner to sector leadership teams, holding Foodbuy functions and suppliers to account while ensuring delivery against agreed KPIs and long‑term objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver joint commercial strategies aligned to sector and business priorities
  • Lead the delivery of strategic and tactical commercial projects, ensuring execution against agreed timelines
  • Shape supply chain strategy across food, retail, non‑food and services
  • Drive compliance, optimisation and commercial improvement across vendor and product ranges
  • Use data and insight to improve cost of goods, pricing and supply chain performance
  • Identify and deliver purchasing income opportunities
  • Play a lead role in managing inflationary pressures and cost control strategies
  • Influence and challenge senior stakeholders with confidence and credibility
  • Support the delivery of UK‑wide and sector‑specific critical projects

About you:

You’ll be a senior commercial leader with a strong track record of delivery in complex, fast‑paced environments. You’re confident navigating ambiguity, influencing at executive level and leading large‑scale change across multiple workstreams.

Key experience includes:

  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic decision‑making capability
  • Experience working across complex supply chains (food, non‑food or FM desirable)
  • A proven ability to lead, influence and hold senior stakeholders to account
  • Delivery of large‑scale projects and transformation initiatives
  • Strong analytical capability with the confidence to use data to drive decisions
  • Resilience, pace and the ability to operate effectively under pressure

Why join Foodbuy?

  • Senior, visible role with genuine executive influence
  • High autonomy and responsibility across critical sectors
  • Opportunity to shape Foodbuy’s commercial agenda and growth strategy
  • Career development within a FTSE 100 organisation
  • The chance to make a measurable impact at scale
