​​The School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Medicine & Sciences (SCMMS) provides an outstanding multi-disciplinary environment for the pursuit of cutting-edge cardiovascular and metabolic research ( https://www.kcl.ac.uk/scms).

​We study the fundamental molecular, cellular, and physiological processes that underly normal and abnormal cardiovascular and metabolic function and we drive the translation of this strong basic science into advances in clinical practice to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment.  This activity provides a high-quality research and training environment for non-clinical and clinical scientists.

​The School occupies facilities across the Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Denmark Hill campuses of King’s College London and comprises over 65 academic groups, hosting 400 staff and 110 PhD students.

​The School is a partner of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Guy’s and St. Thomas’, which offers world class facilities for translational studies and phase I/II clinical trials.​ 

The role involves developing and managing the research work programme in collaboration with project leads and refining the project protocol alongside the Principal Investigators. You will be responsible for ensuring that all research components are delivered effectively and on time, coordinating activities across the project, and establishing pilot studies in partnership with NHS colleagues. Close liaison with other researchers and teams will be essential to ensure integration and knowledge sharing. 

 

Key responsibilities include reviewing relevant literature, obtaining ethical approvals, and adhering to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and governance guidelines. You will lead the preparation of research instruments, oversee data collection and analysis, and produce progress reports. The role also requires drafting conference papers and publications, presenting findings at conferences, and developing proposals for future funding. 

 

In addition, you will supervise MSc and BSc students as agreed with project supervisors, contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and undertake departmental administrative duties. Compliance with Health and Safety regulations and maintaining confidentiality are essential aspects of the role. The successful candidate will also be expected to carry out any other reasonable duties aligned with the role.

 

This is a full-time post (40 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 6 months (renewable based on review after 4 months).
