We are seeking passionate, motivated Band 5 Practitioners to join our expanding perioperative teams at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, including working in our brand-new, state-of-the-art operating theatres within the Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre (CASIC). The CASIC center is due to open this summer and we are recruiting.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of surgical innovation while also gaining a wide range of experience across our established main theatres, day surgery unit, and other clinical areas. We are looking for flexible practitioners who thrive in a varied and dynamic working environment.
Main duties of the job

As part of our team, you will: Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within a multidisciplinary team Develop your clinical skills across a broad range of surgical specialties including Robotic, Gynae-Urology, Maxillo-facial, ENT, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and General Surgery. Be supported in your professional development and career progression Contribute to a culture of innovation, safety, and excellenc· To work effectively as part of the Theatres/Recovery/Anaesthetic team. · To provide high quality, research based nursing care that is patient focused. · To take an active role in maintaining effective communication with all disciplines and patients. · To adhere to all theatre policies as detailed in the Theatre Policy manual. · To support the Theatre Operations Manager in the establishment of a good working atmosphere and in making the most effective/efficient use of staff supplies and services. |

Clinical
· To provide high quality, research based, individualised patient care at all times.
· To provide a problem solving approach to patient care.
· To prepare the clinical environment to meet the requirements of the perioperative patients and anticipated workload, sometimes as short notice, including the emergency situation. This may involve specialist equipment and intra-operative drugs.
· To act as the patient’s advocate and give psychological support to the patient e.g., whilst in the anaesthetic room, during local anaesthetic procedures.
· To give assistance to the anaesthetist and/or the Anaesthetic Practitioner whilst in the anaesthetic room e.g., the application of monitoring equipment and the positioning of the patient.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse – with current UK NMC Registration Registered Operating Department Practitioner – with current UK HCPC Registration
- Degree/Diploma or evidence of equivalent experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Operating Theatre experience
- Understanding of current issues in Acute NHS setting
- Demonstrates professional awareness and knowledge
- Can demonstrate up-to-date clinical credibility/competence
- Knowledge of clinical governance issues, such as complains handling, clinical risk management
Desirable criteria
- Consolidation of Nurse/ODP Training
