Medical Appraisal and Revalidation Administrator – Band 4, Permanent, Part-time (25 hours/week)

The Responsible Officer at Ashford & St Peter’s is seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join the team as a Band 4 Medical Appraisal and Revalidation Administrator on a part-time basis. You will provide high level, professional and confidential support to doctors to enable them to meet their appraisal and revalidation requirements.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and analytical skills, a strong work ethic, a sense of accountability and the ability to multi-task with attention to detail. Being able to work under pressure, prioritising tasks effectively whilst working to deadlines is essential. He/she will have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Main duties of the job
You must be customer focused and have the ability to develop good working relationships and personal credibility with doctors, managers and other staff at all levels, together with the ability to work as an effective team member and to work on your own initiative on set tasks.
The successful candidate will receive support and training to perform a variety of clerical duties assisting the Medical Workforce Team Leader and the Head of Medical Workforce and will be required to show a willingness to learn and develop additional skills. The postholder will perform their duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation and it is vital that confidentiality be maintained at all times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To support the implementation and monitoring of all current appraisal and revalidation requirements as identified by NHS England and the GMC and to keep up to date with developments.
· To maintain robust administrative systems and processes to ensure efficient and effective operation of the medical appraisal and revalidation system across the Trust including for locum staff
· To develop and maintain appropriate protocols and processes to ensure that all doctors undertake timely annual appraisal in line with national guidance and Trust Policy.
· To support the Responsible Officer, Medical Workforce Team Leader and Head of Medical Workforce to plan, organise and produce annual reports for submission to NHS England, analysing and ensuring that the Trust meets its internal and external monitoring and reporting requirements in respect of medical appraisal and revalidation.
· To complete governance checks through the DATIX system and by liaising with the Divisional Directors, Chief of Patient Safety and Head of Medical Workforce, on behalf of the RO, for RO Reference requests received from other organisations.
· To support the Medical Workforce Team Leader and Head of Medical Workforce with the development and updating of policies and procedures in respect of medical appraisal and revalidation to reflect current national guidance and best practice.

- Educated to A level or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
Experience

- Experience of working in an acute NHS hospital in a corporate or operational administrative role
- Experience of managing a busy administrative workload with conflicting priorities
- Experience of working effectively as a member of a team and in a busy department
- Experience of working effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure a task is performed effectively
