SHE Advisor – Derby, Derbyshire

  • This is a full-time role
  • The base location for this role is our Smartparc, Derby, DE21

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on, site-based support to implement the SHE Management System and Greggs standards
  • Work closely with the Regional SHE Manager and site leadership teams to support effective delivery of SHE requirements at site level
  • Complete planned and ad-hoc site walkabouts, inspections and audits, recording clear, factual evidence and identifying compliance gaps
  • Support site teams with risk assessments and safe systems of work, ensuring controls are understood, applied and embedded in day-to-day operations
  • Provide practical, proportionate SHE advice to support effective operational control and legal compliance
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, contributing to root cause analysis and shared learning
  • Assist with the tracking and closure of SHE actions, ensuring issues are addressed within agreed timescales
  • Maintain accurate electronic SHE records and supporting evidence in line with company and regulatory requirements
  • Coach and support managers and teams to help build a positive, compliance-led SHE culture
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in SHE performance through engagement, assurance activity and feedback from site operations

Ideal Candidate

You’ll fit right into this role if you:

  • Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or other recognised general safety qualification (or demonstrate a clear commitment to working towards one)
  • Demonstrate experience of environmental management activities, such as waste, water and energy management
  • Have experience of auditing and inspection activity within an operational or site‑based environment
  • Bring an engineering or machinery‑based background, with a strong understanding of plant, equipment and controls
  • Apply fire safety knowledge and/or relevant fire safety qualifications
  • Work effectively as part of a team, building strong working relationships at all levels
  • Communicate confidently, with excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to influence and engage others
  • Manage your workload effectively, using strong organisational skills to plan, prioritise and handle multiple tasks at pace
