General Operative – Leciester
Enva is a leading provider of recycling and resource recovery solutions, helping businesses and communities across the UK manage their waste responsibly. Our Wesley Street Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is a busy, fast-paced site where recyclable materials are sorted and processed.
As a General Operative at our MRF, you’ll be working as part of a team to keep the plant running smoothly. This hands-on role involves sorting recyclables from a moving conveyor, assisting with plant blockages, and ensuring high standards of housekeeping across site. It’s a physical, fast-paced job that requires focus, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Hand-pick recyclable materials from a moving conveyor line.
- Follow picking priorities to ensure quality material recovery.
- Monitor material flow and report any issues or blockages to supervisors.
- Attend to blockages and assist in keeping the plant running smoothly.
- Carry out cleaning duties during plant downtime or breakdowns.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across all working areas.
- Strictly adhere to all Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) procedures.
- Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Cooperate with colleagues to meet safety and operational goals.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Good English language skills (verbal and written).
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Organised, motivated, and reliable with strong attention to detail.
- Physically able to work in a fast-paced environment with manual handling, bending, lifting, and standing for long periods.
Desirable
- Experience working in a recycling, waste, or industrial processing environment.
- Previous experience in fast-moving or automated plant operations.
- Familiarity with recyclable materials and contamination control.
