Summary
As our AI Standards Manager, you’ll support the definition, documentation, and adoption of clear, practical AI standards across the organisation. A key part of your role will be working with Procurement and Cybersecurity teams to ensure third-party AI solutions meet our expectations for safety, quality, and ethical responsibility.
You’ll help maintain internal standards and guidelines, review vendor solutions, and provide practical support to ensure AI is adopted in a consistent, responsible, and secure way. This role is ideal for someone early in their AI or governance career who wants to shape how AI is safely and responsibly adopted across a retail organisation.

What you’ll do
- Support the creation and maintenance of AI standards and guidance documents, covering areas such as model transparency, data usage, fairness, risk mitigation, and explainability.
- Work closely with Procurement and Cybersecurity teams to assess AI capabilities offered by third-party vendors.
- Support the review of vendor submissions to ensure compliance with internal AI and data standards, including responsible AI, data privacy, model performance, and security.
- Support internal teams in applying standards to AI initiatives — providing guidance, templates, checklists, or other practical tools.
- Help track adoption and compliance with AI standards across teams and vendors, contributing to internal reporting and oversight processes.
- Maintain records of assurance activities, feedback, and improvements to support continuous learning and governance.
Who you are
- Experience or interest in working in governance, compliance, technology assurance, or standards development (AI, data, or cybersecurity environments).
- Strong organisational and communication skills — able to work with Procurement, Cybersecurity, and Data & AI teams effectively.
- Some understanding of AI concepts (e.g. explainability, bias, model training, data governance), with a willingness to grow this knowledge further.
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in Technology, Data, Risk, Governance, Compliance, or Procurement.
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and proactive, with strong organisational skills.
